Pablo Javier Aguirre Hörmann is a Graduate Student Fellow at RegLab working on understanding how environmental enforcement and compliance can be enhanced by the use of data-based approaches. He is also a PhD candidate at Pontificia Universidad Catolica (Chile) specializing in environmental policy, with research involving statistical computation, causal inference, and optimization.
Pablo currently serves as Head of Environmental Intelligence at Chile’s Environmental Enforcement and Compliance Agency (SMA: Superintendencia del Medio Ambiente), leading a team promoting environmental monitoring and evaluation by integrating data science, technology, and environmental science.
He has taught several courses in statistical programming and completed his master’s in public policy at the University of Chicago. He is passionate about hiking, trail running, and biking, and used to be an avid amateur brewer and winemaker.
