Lingwei Cheng is a PhD student in Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. Lingwei received a B.A. in Political Science and International Business from Dickinson College, and an M.S. in Computational Analysis and Public Policy from the University of Chicago. During her masterʼ’s, she was a software engineer apprentice at Computational Institute and a data journalism fellow at Knight Lab. After graduating, she worked as a research analyst at Inclusive Economy Lab, where she primarily worked in building predictive models and evaluating programs in homelessness, workforce development and post-secondary education. Lingweiʼ’s research interests include understanding the social and economic impact of algorithms, as well as fairness, accountability, and transparency in machine learning (FATML).
