Elena Eneva
Research Director
Elena Eneva is Research Director at RegLab, blending AI research with social impact. With over 20 years of experience in machine learning, data science, and AI, Elena has tackled some of society’s toughest challenges — from improving healthcare systems to protecting refugees and making AI more understandable and equitable for all.
In the past, Elena has focused on machine learning and AI at Accenture, where she led the development and deployment of intelligent systems, first in client-facing roles and later as the lead of the US AI Research and Development team at Accenture Technology Labs.
Elena also co-founded the Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) program at the University of Chicago, a project-based fellowship for aspiring data scientists from around the world to work on high-impact projects for nonprofits and government agencies globally. She later returned to lead the program and now serves on its board of directors. Additionally, Elena helped establish and directed the DataLab program, a similar DSSG-style fellowship for top U.S.-based undergraduates, held at Sewanee, the University of the South, where Elena had received her B.A. in Computer Science. She received her M.S. in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University.
A longtime Bay Area resident, Elena balances her love of “sciencing with data” with volunteering for local organizations, mentoring young people in tech, social dancing, and tending to her succulents.
