A. Feder Cooper is a scalable machine-learning (ML) researcher and co-founder of the Center for Generative AI, Law, and Policy Research (The GenLaw Center). In ML, Cooper’s contributions span uncertainty estimation, privacy and security of generative-AI systems, distributed training, hyperparameter optimization, and model selection. Cooper also conducts associated research in tech policy and law, and spends a lot of time working to effectively communicate the capabilities and limits of AI/ML to the broader public. This work has received many spotlight, oral, and best paper accolades at top conferences and workshops, including  ICML, AAAI, NeurIPS, and AIES.
