Nathan Jo is a PhD student in Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was previously a Research Fellow at the RegLab, focusing on problems surrounding environmental compliance, urban policy, and algorithmic fairness. More broadly, he is interested in researching the societal impacts of AI using tools from causal inference, machine learning, and behavioral economics. Nathan earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s from the the University of Southern California in 2021.

Outside of research, Nathanael is passionate about service. He has worked as both a teaching volunteer in the Los Angeles Unified School District and also as a public advocacy intern for a United Nations nonprofit.
